Volvo Launches 2 Electric Trucks with Two Battery Pack Options

Volvo Trucks, a leading manufacturer in the automotive industry, recently unveiled its latest offerings in the electric vehicle segment. The company introduced two models of electric-powered trucks, namely the Volvo FL Electric and FE Electric, equipped with advanced battery technology that offers increased power and an extended range.

The Volvo FL Electric is equipped with a high-performance electric motor, delivering an impressive power of 241 hp (180 kW). It comes with two battery pack options: 280 kWh and 565 kWh, providing customers with the flexibility to choose the ideal capacity based on their operational needs.

With the 280 kWh battery configuration, the Volvo FL Electric can cover a distance of up to 280 km. For those requiring an even greater range, the 6 battery configuration enables the truck to travel up to 450 km, ensuring efficient and reliable transportation for various applications.

The Volvo FE Electric also boasts remarkable performance, featuring two electric motors with a combined power output of up to 302 hp (225 kW). Its battery pack capacity ranges from 280 kWh to 375 kWh, offering customers a tailored solution to meet their specific requirements. The truck can achieve a maximum range of 275 km on a single full charge, providing seamless operation throughout the day.

Jessica Sandström, the Vice President of Product Management at Volvo Trucks, expressed her excitement about the new electric truck models. “With a range exceeding 450 km, our electric trucks are poised to revolutionize urban transportation by replacing the city’s entire fleet of diesel trucks,” she stated.

The transition to electric trucks brings significant environmental benefits, including reduced emissions and noise pollution. Sandström highlighted how these eco-friendly vehicles contribute to a cleaner and healthier urban environment for residents and commuters alike.

Volvo Trucks emphasizes the importance of sustainability in the transportation sector. By replacing conventional diesel trucks with electric alternatives and utilizing green electricity, businesses can achieve substantial carbon dioxide (CO2) reductions. According to Volvo, a switch from a Volvo FL or FE diesel truck to the electric version, combined with the use of renewable energy sources, can lead to a remarkable annual reduction of up to 30 tons of CO2 emissions.

Since commencing full-scale production of electric trucks in 2019, Volvo Trucks has witnessed significant success in the global market. With nearly 5,000 electric trucks sold across 40 countries, the company has demonstrated its commitment to driving the transition towards sustainable transportation solutions.

Looking ahead, Volvo Trucks has set an ambitious goal for the future. By 2030, they aim to have electric trucks account for 50% of their total global sales, cementing their position as a frontrunner in the electric vehicle industry.
