Mercedes-Benz EQG: A G-Class Electric Portrait

Mercedes-Benz, the renowned automaker, has taken a bold step towards electrification by introducing the electric variant of its iconic G-Class in 2021 under the name EQG. Although currently available as a concept version, the EQG has already made its presence known on the roads during a recent test run.

Design and Features

The EQG boasts an impressive exterior design, bearing a striking resemblance to the conventional G-Class line. The only noticeable difference is that all details, except for the doors and wheels, are blacked out. The front and rear bumpers are still present, but the exhaust pipe has been removed, highlighting the car’s electric nature.

While the interior details have not been disclosed, it is expected that Mercedes-Benz will stay true to the current G-Class design language.

Performance and Technology

Equipped with two differentials, the EQG is set to deliver a powerful driving experience. The motor configuration of the electric SUV is still under speculation, with Motor1 suggesting that it will either feature four-wheel-equivalent electric motors or a three-motor powertrain.

Mercedes-Benz aims to make the EQG available for purchase in 2024, with an expected release date in the fourth quarter of 2023. The automaker is also making strides in the electric vehicle market in Vietnam, with the EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4MATIC models already available, starting at almost 5 billion dong.
