Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of the Suzuki Jimny 5-door variant in Indonesia. Speculations suggest that this adventure-ready vehicle will make its debut at the IIMS 2024 event. Since the beginning of January 2024, the pre-orders for the 5-door Jimny have already surpassed the 500-unit mark.
Growing Enthusiasm for the Jimny 5-Door
Harold Donnel, the Marketing Director 4W at PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) in Bogor, revealed that the interest in the 5-door Jimny is significantly higher compared to its 3-door counterpart, which was introduced earlier. Explaining the surge in demand, he emphasized that the 5-door Jimny boasts a larger body and an extended wheelbase.
“As a result, its market segment has expanded. Previously catering to hobbyists, it has now transformed into a vehicle for both enthusiasts and families. What was once popular among fathers and young adults has now broadened to include women as well,” he articulated.
Impressive Pre-Order Numbers
Harold highlighted that SIS has already received over 500 vehicle booking confirmations, indicating a substantial shift from the 3-door to the 5-door model. Some consumers have transitioned from their initial preference for the 3-door variant to opting for the more spacious 5-door alternative.
He also mentioned that 50% of the buyers for the Jimny 5-door already own another vehicle either as an addition or as a replacement for their existing one.
Sales Projections and Availability
Pre-orders and reservations for the Jimny 5-door have been open since January 1, 2024. Harold estimates monthly sales to reach around 200 units, making it four times more than the 3-door Jimny. The annual quota for this model is projected to be 2,400 units.
“Currently, there is ready stock available, but consumers need to act swiftly to secure their purchase,” he advised.
Jimny 3-Door Continues Its Journey
Addressing concerns about the fate of the Suzuki Jimny 3-door model, Harold assured that it will continue to be available for purchase at its normal price range of Rp443.9 million to Rp460.5 million. He noted a significant improvement in delivery times, with waiting periods now reduced to approximately three months.
As for the pricing of the Jimny 5-door, Harold didn’t disclose specific figures but hinted that it would likely be close to the 3-door variant, possibly below the Rp500 million mark. The anticipation for the 5-door Jimny is building up, and with the current market dynamics, it is poised to become a favorite among Indonesian automotive enthusiasts.
