BMW has unveiled its latest addition to the lineup, the sporty X1 crossover, in the form of the M35i. This exceptional vehicle boasts a remarkable four-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 312 horsepower. With the advanced xDrive AWD front-wheel drive system, the BMW X1 M35i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 5.2 seconds.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged modular four-banger engine has undergone extensive enhancements and reinforcements. BMW has incorporated components from their cutting-edge six-cylinder engine, including the main bearing shells and covers.
According to carbuzz page, this exceptional engine achieves its peak power between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm. Its maximum torque of 295 lb-ft is available from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm, offering impressive performance throughout the entire range.
The power generated by the X1 M35i is seamlessly transmitted through a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission, aptly named the M Sport Boost. This transmission is equipped with a mechanical limited-slip differential and features BMW’s innovative near-actuator wheel slip technology, ensuring rapid and precise traction control intervention.
To achieve the sportiest driving experience, this cutting-edge mechanism optimizes the powertrain and chassis systems. With its performance tires, the BMW X1 M35i can reach a top speed of 155 miles/h (250 km/h), while achieving 130 miles/h (210 km/h) without performance tires.

Setting new standards in performance, the BMW X1 M35i is the first M Performance model to offer M Compound brakes as an option. These brakes feature a 15.2-inch bore disc at the front and a 13-inch disc at the rear. Distinguished by their glossy gray finish, the M Compound brakes provide exceptional stopping power. Alternatively, customers can opt for the regular M Sport brakes, which come in blue or red.
Inside the X1 M35i, BMW has introduced iDrive with QuickSelect and Operating System 9. This advanced system is a significant upgrade over the iDrive 8.5 found in the new 5 Series, as it debuts in the X1, X2, and Mini models.
By implementing this technology in relatively affordable cars, BMW gathers valuable customer feedback to enhance and refine the system before incorporating it into their high-end vehicles like the 7 Series.
Featuring a sleek and intuitive layout, the new QuickSelect element allows users to swiftly access functions without navigating through complex submenus. With function icons conveniently placed on the driver’s side of the screen, accompanied by shortcuts and a user-friendly home icon, interacting with the system and finding desired features has never been easier.
The cabin of the X1 M35i is a testament to BMW’s commitment to luxury and performance. It boasts an Alcantara instrument panel adorned with Hexacube Dark Aluminum trim pieces, an anthracite-colored headliner, M pedals, M door trims, and a leather-wrapped M paddle-shift steering wheel. The sports seats feature black Sensatec and Alcantara upholstery with blue contrast stitching, exuding a sense of elegance and sportiness. Additionally, customers have the option to choose electrically adjustable M Sport seats, complete with the illuminated M headrest logo.
